Bookswim – Like Netflix for Books
I ran across a cool new website that offers books for those of us who don’t have access to a public library. I suppose that even those who have library access could find it convenient as well. Just like Netflix you set up a list of books you want to read and then they are sent directly to your home with no due dates and no late fees. When you are finished with a book you mail it back in the pre-paid mailer supplied by Bookswim and a new book is on its way to you.
They have lots of popular fiction and non-fiction bestsellers in both hardcover and paperback. And if you fall in love with a book and want to keep it you just indicate that in your on-line account and they add the used book price to your next month’s membership. Memberships start as low as $14.95 per month and their most popular membership is $24.97 per month. Visit their website at www.bookswim.com.
Sending HUMONGOUS Files
I often have to send very large files over the internet. Sometimes I am working with someone who has access and technical know how to deal with FTP files. More often though I need to make it very easy for the person receiving the file. Sending large files via email can cause lots of problems for the recipient or may be blocked entirely from their email system.
I use an easy web based service called You Send It. You can find their “lite” account for no cost here. They have accounts that can be customized if you need them but I have found their free account serves me well.
